  1. SnapShot/32 brings professional quality, convenient Windows
  2. 95 and NT screen captures to your fingertips. It was
  3. designed for ease of use, with powerful and useful features
  4. to aid the professional as well as support the needs of the
  5. occasional user. Use it just a few times - you'll find it to
  6. be indispensable.

  8. Some of the more impressive features are listed here; this
  9. is but a partial list. The best way to get to know
  10. SnapShot/32 is to simply use it!

  12.    Choose your own HotKeys that quickly capture the entire
  13.    Desktop, any Rectangle you outline, or the highlighted
  14.    Window or Client, and automatically repeat the capture
  15.    every x seconds or by using another HotKey.
  16.    
  17.    Automatically save each of your captures to a file by
  18.    default - you can even trigger new captures every x
  19.    seconds and have the filename incremented.

  21.    Save your image as either a BMP or GIF file. GIFs can
  22.    optionally be interlaced, and SnapShot/32 will create
  23.    GIFs with transparent backgrounds, perfect for World
  24.    Wide Web page use.

  26.    Print your capture direct from SnapShot/32 - it will
  27.    expand the image to the size of the paper and margins
  28.    that you set, and even add a frame, reverse, or reduce
  29.    the output to black and white!

  74. INSTALLATION
  75. ------------

  77. Install this program by uncompressing the SNAPxxx.ZIP file
  78. to an empty directory on your hard disk and add it's icon to
  79. Windows 95 or NT. SnapShot/32 is courteous; it does not
  80. litter your drive with other files. Uninstalling the program
  81. is as simple as removing the files you have created, but we
  82. think that once you try SnapShot/32, it will become a
  83. permanent resident. Which leads us to the next topic...

  85. Register your copy of SnapShot/32 by selecting "Register"
  86. under the program's Help menu, or from within the help menu.
  87. This program is a 'try before you buy' shareware program
  88. that relies on your support for continued development, and
  89. single user registration is only $20.00. When you register
  90. SnapShot/32 you will receive a code that enables additional
  91. features and become eligible for priority support. You will
  92. also be able to obtain free updates of the program through
  93. our Web page (address below) with which you can use your
  94. registration code, until the next major release.

  147. the extension, it used to be BMP, not GIF. Also on the

  156. Fixed some small problems in color palette when capturing
  157. images from palette intensive applications. Also upgraded

  161. Fixed a license number problem for long names (over 30
  162. characters). Also moved registry entries for window
  163. position, print setup and hot keys to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  164. tree, so that each user on a machine could have her/his own

  168. Fixed the printing bug under Windows 95 (it would not print
  169. at all), introduced since ver. 2.34.
  170. Changed the way license numbers are generated. Until now the
  171. numbers were based on the name of the machine, where the
  172. program was running. Now they are based on the name of the
  173. owner, so that people could use SnapShot/32 on several
  174. machines. Still the "single user license" number must be
  175. entered separately on each machine, but since it is tied to
  176. the owner name, one can install it e.g. on her/his desktop
  177. and laptop computer independently. The name of the owner
  178. appears in the "Help/About" box. People who registered
  179. earlier and have licenses based on machine names can upgrade
  180. to a "single user license" at no cost by sending me an email
  181. message or a letter containing their machine name and old
  182. license number. The old licenses will still work.

  185. Bug fix: SnapShot/32 saves it's position and window size on
  186. exit, and when restarted, it's window is positioned as
  187. before.  This created problem when the saved position was
  188. completely off-screen so the window was not visible.  Fixed
  189. by checking for any corner of SnapShot/32 window being off-
  190. screen, and if so - repositioning the window to the center
  191. of the screen.  Also modified the message that appears if
  192. SnapShot/32 can not register its hot keys, e.g.  due to
  193. another program (sometimes another copy of SnapShot/32)
  194. using them.  This message is less cryptic now, explains the
  195. reason and suggests changing the keys with "Configure Hot
  196. Keys" dialog under "Options" menu. Also fixed: "Enable hot
  197. keys" check box in hot keys setup dialog was not doing
  198. anything.

  201. Added ability to read GIF files, but only in registered
  202. version. You may read-in GIF file to view it, print it,
  203. translate to BMP file or change the GIF file attributes like
  204. interlaced mode and transparent background.

  207. Working on a MAP file for a GIF image for one of my WEB
  208. pages I needed to read coordinates of points on the bitmap.
  209. Added the display of last mouse click coordinates to the

  213. There seems to be a bug in Win95 betas - when asking how
  214. many colors the display supports ( GetDeviceCaps( dhdc,
  215. BITSPIXEL ) call ) it says "2" even if it's in 16 color
  216. mode. For this reason the bitmaps or GIFs saved in 16 color
  217. mode were black and white only. Worked around this bug by
  218. forcing 16 colors always if less colors are reported.

  221. Added hot key configuration dialog.Added "Repeat last
  222. capture" function and hot-key. Added the "Auto capture and
  223. save" feature - save pre-defined screen area to a file every
  224. time the "Repeat last capture" hot key is pressed, or a
  225. specified time elapses. Added "save with cursor image
  226. included" option. Fixed a problem with hot-keys, which did
  227. not operate under NT 3.5 if SnapShot/32 window was not in
  228. foreground.
